Once upon a time a vocalist having strong affinity towards Indian Classical and Grunge Alternative and a guitarist inclined more towards Blues and Jazz met, and Desh was formed!

Indeed that is the story!!! Desh was a dream that was viewed through Dipendu and Gautam and way later realized and put to reality by Shameek.

It all started in the early years of 2007 when Dipendu, the vocalist and Gautam, the Guitarist thought about creating a new sound. Just as they were all set and had the likes of Vineet on Percussions and Avishek on Bass, destiny played spoil sport and Dipendu met with a fatal accident and extinguished the usher of hope that were to be called Desh.

It was about the same time that Gautam met Shameek, a vocalist and a better composer , and they thought of rekindling Desh and Desh took a rebirth on the 1^st of Jan, 09’.

As things started moving along the hunt for musicians also got some vigor and Shameek found out a family in the faces of Chayan, on guitar, Pradipta, on Bass and Debu on Drums. When things looked better than ever Gautam suddenly decided to call it quits and Debu out of educational obligations had to move on. Shameek let Desh do the deciding from there on and destiny had it!!! But it was just then that Abhinav joined Desh as a guitarist!!!

Desh is a 4-Dimension Cosmo Musical Setup with Shameek on vocals, Chayan and Abhinav on Guitars and Pradipta on Bass. Desh, as the name suggests, has its roots in Indian core music and hence its focus is more on Indian Classical and Folk. One would easily find a touch of the same essence in it its originals as well.

Desh does not go about classifying and declaring genres because Desh is more experimental in nature. Desh looks at music from a whole new point of view. Desh does not want to be restricted within the mere vicinities of live gigs and albums but wants to explore every other avenue in terms of background scores, full time Music Directional Projects or jingles!!! This is majorly because of the fact that Desh believes that music is beyond genres and geographical boundations… and Desh is just another face of this wonderful saga.
